Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) HBCU/MI Internship Program

The Department of the Navy (DoN) Historically Black Colleges and Universities/Minority Institutions (HBCU/MI) - U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) provides career development opportunity for talented students to assist U.S. Navy who protects America's interests at home and abroad by maintaining maritime superiority, deterring aggression, and providing humanitarian assistance. For more than 220 years, NAVSEA and its predecessor organizations have been responsible for the design, construction, delivery, maintenance, and disposal of our Navy's ships and ship systems.

Interested students enrolled in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programs attending the nation's HBCU/MI compete for the opportunity to participate in a 10 week internship where they work directly with the NAVSEA's technical professionals to design and develop innovative solutions to meet any challenge.

The NAVSEA HBCU/MI Internship Program is a highly competitive, paid internship. Interns are hired as Term government employees utilizing the STEM Student Employment Program (SSEP) Direct Hiring Authority (DHA). As Term employees, interns accrue time in federal service should they choose to pursue a future civil service career. In addition to a salary; arrival and departure travel, allowances for housing, and daily transportation may be available as needed.
